Hi Everyone,

I hope your first week is going well, and for those of you new to GCL and the U.F. campus—welcome! This week I've been encouraged by Paul's exhortation to Timothy in 2 Timothy 3, and there is a lesson that we can apply as we meet people on the U.F. campus. Some people will be life-long brothers and sisters in Christ, while others will be hostile toward us for our faith in Jesus.

10You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, 11persecutions, sufferings—what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. 12In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted... (NASB)

Thankfully we serve a God who saves our souls from death and gives us the hope of eternal life!

Connect Opportunity - First week of classes
There are still a ton of new students that we haven't met, who still don't know about GCL.  So, each of the staff will be taking a day to coordinate handing out fliers and doing interest questionnaires on campus this first week of classes. The staff will be in Turlington Plaza between 4th - 7th periods Monday through Friday this week.  If you have a free period to help, please show up at the Turlington Plaza Potato at the beginning of the period and we'll hand you the fliers and questionnaires you need. We hope to see you there!

Tubing at Ichetucknee 9am-2pm, Sat Aug. 28th, O’Connell Center
Join GCL for one of the best activities in the Gainesville area - tubing down the Ichetucknee River! We'll meet in the O'Connell Center parking lot at 9:00am and head out to the springs for a day on the river. Bring $10 for park admission and tube rental; we'll provide transportation and a free lunch.

Campus-Wide Prayer 7am-9am & 4pm-6pm, Mon-Fri, Plaza of Americas
For the next two weeks, join other Christians from all across campus and other ministries to start the semester with prayer for our campus. There's no better way to start the school year! Come for the whole time or part.
